Idea
This assignment provided me with a creative opportunity to express myself on a more personal level. I decided to write a poem about hidden, negative/dark feelings. When I had to choose a photographic image to enhance the essence of the poem, a chest of drawers was the first to come to mind. I was confident in the comparison between feelings locked inside my head and clothes that could be similarly hidden in a chest of drawers. This comparison fueled my writing.
I misunderstood part of the assignment by not using an actual photographic image of drawers. Instead, I created (or at least attempted to create) a chest of drawers formed by the words of the poem.
The Original Poem
Shuffled feelings in a drawer
Don't have to feel them anymore
Locked away like lingerie
The day they're felt won't be today
In the back beneath the socks
Avoiding dark and twisty talks
Maybe tomorrow they'll have a say
The feelings are hiding today
